Bhubaneswar : Amway Opportunity Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of Amway India, presented the annual aid to Palli Unnayan Seva Samiti (PUSS) in Bhubaneswar to facilitate computer education at the AOF-PUSS Computer Centre. The year, the computer centre has received accreditation from the Board of Secondary Education, Government of Odisha to conduct a 2 year Diploma Course in Computer Application (DCA). Amway Opportunity Foundation had set up the AOF-PUSS Computer Centre way back in 2008. Last year AOF upgraded the computer centre with a purpose to make it a vocational centre in information technology. At present the Centre is equipped with 15 computers, a printer and an internet facility. The AOF-PUSS Centre now conducts a two year course on Diploma in Computer Application (DCA) accredited by the Board of Secondary Education, Govt. of Odisha. A total of 33 girl students who study in Class IX have already enrolled for the course. Speaking on the occasion, Bishnu Prasad Mohapatra, Area Manager, Odisha, Amway India said, “Amway Opportunity Foundation is committed to the holistic development of the less privileged children of the society. I am delighted to state that the centre has received accreditation from the state government. This is a key development in our endeavor to prepare the students for the future and make them self-reliant. The DCA course will enable the students to pursue higher studies in IT in the future.” Smt Swati Suchismita Patra, Secretary, PUSS said, “We are indebted to Amway Opportunity Foundation for extending support to set up the Computer Centre for the benefit of 248 girl children of our organization. We also express our heartfelt gratitude to the Board of Secondary Education, Cuttack, Government of Odisha for allowing our computer centre to conduct the diploma course on computer application and providing the recognition for the certificate course.” AOF’s association with PUSS started way back in 2008 when it rolled out, Project Sunrise in the state and set up computer centre. Subsequently AOF undertook annual educational and healthcare sponsorship for the children of PUSS. In 2012, Amway Opportunity Foundation also set up a 10 bedded healthcare centre for Palli Unnayan Seva Samiti to provide healthcare service for the children.
